Latest Mr Jones Creation Celebrates The Joy Of Disconnecting

Creative watch brand, Mr Jones Watches, has added to its collection with a new limited edition watch which celebrates the magic of unplugging from technology.

Unplugged – available to purchase on Wednesday 2nd October (8am – 8pm BST) – encourages its wearer to spend time away from emails, phone screens and laptops to enjoy the simpler pleasures in life like books, music and spending time with pets.

Designed by Belgium illustrator Kristof Devos, who is the designer behind one of Mr Jones Watches most well-loved and recognisable watches, A perfectly useless afternoon.

The watch captures a relaxing scene at home featuring a lounging character and their cat, engrossed in a book, while surrounded by lush plants, a record player, a walkman, and a television as a golden ray of sunlight creeps in through the window.

To read the time, the wearer should check the figure’s outstretched leg, which points to the hours, and the centre line of the window frame seen reflected in the sunlight marks the minutes.

“To emphasise that feeling of being comfortably disconnected, I created a scene, inspired mostly by my own living room, that I personally find most enjoyable: reading with warm sunlight streaming through the window; a cat snuggled next to you on the sofa, surrounded by plants and with the phone off the hook. In a sense, Unplugged is a blend of both my youth and my life today. The technology in the scene is a throwback: the record player, the walkman, the rotary dial telephone and the TV. These items are meant to remind the wearer of the watch how disconnected – unplugged – we were just a few years ago, and how much things have changed since. The watch also conveys that it’s not too late to unplug, even today: the choice is yours, and it’s actually not that difficult to do”

Unplugged will launch on Wednesday 2nd October and will only be available to purchase for 12 hours (8am – 8pm BST) exclusively from Mr Jones Watches.
