We spent an enjoyable time at the launch of Chrono24 UK at The Barn in the Hertfordshire countryside.
The barn engenders a convivial relaxed atmosphere and includes a bar, lounge and rooms which have a luxurious feel. There are also rooms themed like a Vault and Library as well as internal and external spaces for events.
We were taken on a tour of the Barn by Joe McKenzie, founder and CEO of Xupes who will become the CEO of Chrono24 UK. Everything has been thought through with great attention to detail. The bar area is comfortable and spacious. Also at every turn there were beautiful items, including art, clocks and watches.
We were told that this is the main area for meeting clients and also that the space could be used for events in the future.
The service and repair business, has been renamed as The Watch Atelier and becomes an independent business. The setting is more akin to a Swiss Atelier and is bright and airy. It also has space for 50 watchmakers and is continuing to grow.
We were given the opportunity to don a lab coat and get involved in watch repair (no client watches were used!), by removing the hands and dial of a wristwatch. This gave everyone an excellent insight into some of the necessary skills a watchmaker requires.
After our time in the Atelier, we were taken to the meeting rooms, where clients can discuss their requirements surrounded by exquisite timepieces and other exceptional items of horological interest.
There was a particularly stylish Jaeger-LeCoultre Atmosphere Clock on show in the bar area, which was delightful.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience at the new UK HQ for Chrono24, and one that is sure to attract new customers and returning clients.
