Piaget Altiplano Zodiac Horse Edition Rides Again

Piaget Altiplano Zodiac Horse Edition Rides Again

Energetic and forever in motion, the Horse—one of the most spirited signs of the Chinese Zodiac—returns to the fore in Piaget’s latest Métiers d’Art creation.

In the Altiplano Zodiac Horse Edition, the Maison channels freedom and fluidity through an exceptional collaboration with master enameller Anita Porchet, delivering a rare series limited to just 18 pieces, each framed with baguette-cut diamonds that elevate this long-standing celestial theme Piaget has cherished since 2012.

Continuing a distinguished line of Piaget limited editions dedicated to the Chinese Zodiac, the Zodiac Horse Edition stands as a pinnacle of the Maison’s artistry. It sits at the crossroads of elite craft—stone-setting, hand-engraving, and haute enamelling—disciplines that have shaped Piaget’s identity for more than a century.

At its core lies the ultra-slim Calibre 830P (below), a hand-wound mechanical masterpiece that exemplifies Piaget’s dedication to thin horology. Paired with the restrained elegance of the iconic white-gold Altiplano case, this creation embodies the spirit of Piaget’s famed “Extraleganza”—that distinctive blend of refinement and exuberance cultivated since 1874.

The dial is where this timepiece truly becomes art. Its white-gold canvas is first meticulously hand-engraved within Piaget’s workshops. Under the engraver’s burin, a flowing drapery emerges, forming the relief that will cradle the forthcoming enamel. The surface is then partitioned for cloisonné enamelling, forming the foundation of this miniature tableau.

Above this, Piaget revives its celebrated Palace Décor, a goldsmith’s engraving technique from the 1960s, executed here with exquisite finesse. Waves of brilliant-cut diamonds trace the structure, while the recessed zones are filled with shimmering grand feu enamel in shifting tones of blue, grey, and white—creating a dial alive with depth and radiance.

The 41mm Altiplano case is encircled by baguette-cut diamonds, with the lugs accented by additional brilliant-cut stones. A final flourish: a rose-cut diamond crowning the winding stem, casting a gentle glint with each motion of the wrist.

Rising above this landscape is the pièce de résistance: a three-dimensional horse captured mid-leap, sculpted in cloisonné enamel. Through delicate tonal transitions—from deep midnight blue to luminous white—muscle tension, coat reflections, and the animal’s dynamic posture emerge with stunning realism. It is at once vivid, poetic, and technically breathtaking.

With its fusion of high craft, ultra-thin engineering, and rare artisanal execution, the Altiplano Zodiac Horse Editionstands as a collector’s dream—an intimate encounter between Piaget’s historic savoir-faire and the expressive artistry of one of Switzerland’s greatest enamellers.

A tribute to motion, mastery, and myth—destined for only eighteen fortunate wrists.
