Independent British watchmaker Isotope Watches unveils the Moonshot Chronograph Thunderclap, a daring new evolution of its signature chronograph platform.

Strictly limited to just 30 pieces worldwide, Thunderclap fuses the proven Moonshot architecture with a dramatic new aesthetic and introduces a historic first for the brand: a telemeter scale.
A flash across the sky. A rolling echo in the distance. A jolt of colour against brooding grey. Thunderclap captures that charged moment in mechanical form.
This special edition arrives through a collaboration with Matt, better known as Teenage Grandpa, whose fearless creative language and instinct for the unexpected make him a natural partner for reimagining the Moonshot.

“The first time I met Matt, I was immediately struck by his energy, sharp mind, and design
José Miranda, Co-Founder, Isotope
originality. He had a genuine connection with the Moonshot, which led me to invite him to
create his own interpretation of it. The result is bold and unexpected, a version that could
only come from the mind of Teenage Grandpa.”
At its core, Thunderclap retains the full technical specification of the original Moonshot, but presents a sharply defined new visual identity.
The case is crafted from sandblasted Grade 5 titanium and, notably, left without DLC coating. The raw, matte texture allows the natural character of the titanium to speak for itself, clean, purposeful, and uncompromising.
The dial delivers a dramatic interplay of texture and colour:
- A grey embossed dimple dial, reminiscent of charged storm clouds
- Metallic purple Moondisc sub-dials that shimmer and shift in changing light
- Matching purple chronograph pushers that inject a vivid burst of colour along the case flank
The overall effect feels industrial yet electric, restrained at first glance, explosive upon closer inspection.

Thunderclap marks a significant milestone as Isotope’s first chronograph to incorporate a telemeter scale.
Traditionally used to measure the distance between a visible event and the sound it produces, such as lightning and thunder, a telemeter allows the wearer to calculate how far away a storm is by timing the interval between flash and sound.
A scale born of science and precision, it feels entirely appropriate on a watch named Thunderclap. Here, function meets narrative where precision meets poetry.

Despite its bold aesthetic shift, Thunderclap preserves everything that defines the Moonshot platform:
- Identical case dimensions and construction
- The same chronograph movement architecture
- 100 metres of water resistance
- Meticulous finishing throughout
In short, the engineering remains unchanged; only the visual language has evolved.

The Moonshot Chronograph Thunderclap is offered in two configurations:
- £2,400 – Fitted to a purple FKM rubber strap
- £2,720 – Supplied with both the rubber strap and matching titanium bracelet
The titanium bracelet will also be available separately for collectors wishing to purchase it independently.
With production strictly limited to just 30 pieces worldwide, availability is expected to be extremely limited and a true collector’s strike of lightning from Isotope.
