Greubel Forsey Unveils Final Editions Of The Balancier Convexe S²

Greubel Forsey has announced the final two editions of the Balancier Convexe S², marking the end of a calibre developed and refined over the past five years.

The closing models come in two distinct versions: one in black ceramic with 5N red gold accents, and the other in white ceramic. Each is limited to just 11 pieces, making them the most exclusive interpretations of the series.

Both watches feature the brand’s signature Convexe case (41.5mm) and are powered by a hand-wound movement with a 30° inclined balance wheel system. With these releases, the Balancier Convexe S² enters its final chapter, with production set to end permanently in 2026.

A Fully Integrated Architecture

From the outset, the Balancier Convexe S² was conceived as a fully integrated design, where case geometry and movement architecture evolve together. The Convexe case follows the natural curve of the wrist, ensuring balance, legibility, and comfort.

Rather than simply housing the movement, the case extends its architecture outward—creating a seamless dialogue between exterior form and mechanical construction.

The 30° Inclined Balance Wheel

At the heart of the movement is Greubel Forsey’s signature 30° inclined balance wheel, serving as both a visual and chronometric focal point.

The calibre is openworked and multi-layered, with bridges and suspended structures that reveal the mechanics. It comprises 301 components, including a 68-part escapement platform. Two fast-rotating coaxial barrels provide a 72-hour power reserve, while a variable-inertia balance with six gold screws operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour.

Finishing as a Philosophy

Finishing remains central to the watch’s identity. Titanium bridges and plates are frosted and hand-finished with polished bevels and precise transitions.

Even the least visible components receive meticulous attention—reflecting the brand’s philosophy that craftsmanship extends beyond what the eye can see.

Two Distinct Final Expressions

While mechanically identical, the two editions present contrasting aesthetics—one bold and warm with black ceramic and red gold, the other clean and monochromatic in white ceramic.

Both retain the defining layout: hours and minutes on a suspended arch bridge, small seconds, and a sector power-reserve indicator. Curved sapphire crystals, sculpted lugs, and a three-dimensional bezel further emphasize the harmony between movement and case.

A Chapter Concludes

These final editions bring a five-year exploration of the Balancier Convexe S² to a definitive close. Production of the movement will end in 2026, alongside a broader transition toward a new generation of timepieces from the Atelier.

Limited to just 11 pieces per version, these watches stand as the ultimate expression of the Balancier Convexe S²—defined by architectural design, chronometric ambition, and mechanical integrity.
