Alexander Shorokhoff’s new M.I.K.E. watch combines the brand’s unmistakable sense of artistic expression with a humanitarian cause. This is a playful mechanical creation with a serious purpose.

Limited to just ten pieces worldwide, M.I.K.E. is a watch with a personality of its own. Its name stands for Mission, Inspiration, Kindness and Empathy, while the character of the watch is embodied by a rather unexpected protagonist, the bear.

The name Mike derives from Michael and its Russian diminutive Mischa, meaning bear. Rather than placing an obvious animal motif across the dial, Alexander Shorokhoff has chosen a more intriguing approach. The bear gradually reveals itself through the details, rewarding closer inspection and reflecting the playful and intellectual character that has become central to the manufacture’s design language.

A bear hidden in plain sight

The dial is where M.I.K.E. truly comes to life. Fine guilloché patterns and relief-like structures create a richly textured surface, while small colourful eyes introduce the first clues to the bear concealed within the design.

Look more closely and another detail emerges. The upper sub-dial incorporates a subtle opening that forms the bear’s mouth, transforming what initially appears to be a conventional element of the dial into part of the watch’s narrative.

The result is deliberately playful without becoming whimsical. Every detail contributes to the character of M.I.K.E., creating a watch that encourages its owner to discover rather than simply observe.

The cream and green dial is punctuated by brightly coloured indications, with an orange lacquered minute hand and yellow lacquered seconds hand adding further visual energy. Large, colourful numerals on the lower sub-dial display the seconds in a distinctly Alexander Shorokhoff style.

At 12 o’clock, meanwhile, a large H accompanies the jumping hour display, providing a strong graphic element while drawing attention to the unusual mechanism beneath.

Time that jumps

M.I.K.E. is powered by a Dubois Dépraz 14400A automatic movement, incorporating a jumping hour complication. Rather than allowing the hour indication to progress gradually, the mechanism makes each change distinctly and instantaneously.

It is an appropriate complication for a watch that is designed around individuality. The central minutes continue their familiar sweep while the hours appear through a window at 12 o’clock, creating a contrast between the continuous and the instantaneous.

The movement is finished with a hand-engraved and refined rotor, complemented by blued screws and 25 jewels. A power reserve of approximately 40 hours ensures that the mechanical heart of M.I.K.E. remains practical as well as distinctive.

The movement can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back, offering a glimpse of the craftsmanship behind the deliberately unconventional exterior.

A watch with a purpose

The bear is more than a design motif. It also connects M.I.K.E. with the Biker Charity Run Süd, whose identifying symbol is likewise the bear.

The initiative raises donations for children suffering from rheumatic diseases and supports the Rheumatology Children’s Hospital in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which specialises in treating these conditions.

For every M.I.K.E. sold, €500 will be donated directly to the Rheumatology Children’s Hospital. The limited edition therefore carries a purpose that extends well beyond the wrist.

It is this combination of artistic expression and charitable intent that gives M.I.K.E. its particular character. The watch does not attempt to disguise its purpose behind conventional luxury language. Instead, it embraces the idea that mechanical watchmaking can communicate something more personal.

Ten bears only

The 43.5 mm stainless steel case combines brushed and polished surfaces and is water resistant to 5 ATM. At 11.3 mm thick, it retains a relatively restrained profile despite the complexity of the dial.

A green crocodile leather strap completes the design, secured by an engraved solid stainless steel pin buckle. Sapphire crystal is used both front and back, providing durability while allowing the dial and movement to remain central to the experience.

With only ten examples being produced, M.I.K.E. is intentionally scarce. Yet its appeal lies in more than its limited production.

Alexander Shorokhoff has created a watch with the qualities of a character. The bear is hidden rather than announced, the jumping hours introduce an element of surprise and the colourful dial refuses to take itself too seriously. Beneath all of this, however, lies a clear message about kindness and empathy.

M.I.K.E. is therefore much more than a mechanical timepiece. It is a small work of art with a conscience, a quiet protector on the wrist and a reminder that even the most avant-garde expressions of watchmaking can have a heart.
