HERBELIN’S Cap Camarat Chronographe Automatic, is an exceptional timepiece that combines the performance of a Swiss automatic movement with a timeless style.
The latest Cap Camarat Automatic Chronograph stays true to the spirit of the collection, inspired by a seventies timepiece from HERBELIN’s watchmaking heritage. The 316L stainless steel case boasts a vertical brushed finish, tastefully complemented by polished facets. With a hexagonal shape and a 42mm diameter, its geometric strength is accentuated by a vertically-brushed steel bezel embellished with six decorative screws.
A hallmark of 1970s watchmaking, the integrated strap flows seamlessly into the case for a streamlined result. The French brand’s signature four links – brushed and polished – and double-folding clasp make the model beautifully flexible and comfortable to wear.
The round dial features a British racing green background, protected by a sapphire crystal with a subtle, horizontally stamped, sun-ray pattern. With a colour palette in keeping with watchmaking trends, it also features bevelled hour markers, partially finished with a luminescent coating.
Two contrasting counters – a 30-minute at 3 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock – stand out side by side in black. A date aperture can be found at 6 o’clock, while the faceted rectangular hour and minute hands move in time with a central seconds hand.
Designed to measure short periods of time – water resistant to 100 metres – is driven by a self-winding mechanical chronograph movement. Swiss made for reliability and precision (Sellita SW510), its oscillating weight, engraved with the French watchmaker’s name, can be seen through a clear back. Beating to the rhythm of 28,800 oscillations an hour and incorporating 27 jewels, it offers a 62-hour power reserve.
The all-terrain Cap Camarat Automatic Chronograph was designed, assembled, adjusted and inspected at the HERBELIN workshops in the Jura mountains of the Franche-Comté region.
