Latest Mr Jones Creation Paints A Love Letter To London

Artistic watch brand, Mr Jones Watches, has launched a limited edition watch inspired by the dynamic streets of London.

As a London-based independent brand operating two workshops and a shop in the nation’s capital, this latest watch release celebrates Mr Jones Watches’ founding city.

The brand is known for collaborating with artists to create unique and usual watch designs. Tails of London has been created by the brand’s very own Watch Assembly Technician, Catarina Morais, a Portuguese, London-based illustrator.

Featuring iconic landmarks like Big Ben, Tower Bridge and The Gherkin, the watch encapsulates the perfect day out in the city. Amongst the dynamic design, we see an illustrated character and their dog exploring the city and soaking up the summer sun.

Catarina is known for her densely-packed and playful illustrations. She designed the brand’s limited edition Houseparty watch last year and her art also features on the shop’s tote bags, in-store mural and illustrated windows displays.

“When I moved to London five years ago, I was immediately mesmerised by the city’s life, diversity, and energy. Living here has sparked a sense of discovery and to this day, I find there is always more to explore. Tails of London’s narrative focuses on the character and her curious dog and their exploration of an ever-growing city. To do this, the design uses the overlapping of different layers to reveal more details of the city as the day goes by. The design displays this sense of curiosity and discovery – walking through a massive city and exploring more and more at each step.”

To tell the time, the position of Big Ben shows the hour and the character walking their dog points to the minutes.

Liberated by the fact that most people check the time on their mobile phones or smart devices, Mr Jones Watches specialises in playful and eye-catching watch designs that each have their own unique way to tell the time.

About The Designer

Catarina Morais (she/her) is a Portuguese, London-based Illustrator. Her work mainly focuses on busy compositions of interacting characters. She has developed her style mainly through observing the busy lives of people in London and the connections of people around her. She uses bold colours, curated into limited colour palettes, accentuating blocked shapes and simplified, funky proportions through her work.
