Maison Boanton Ellipse Is Elegant And Luxurious

Maison Boanton’s debut Ellipse watch is inspired by the sophisticated elegance and luxury of the Art Deco style of the 1920s.

Amongst many other elements, there are two things that I love about watches, 1) A cushion shaped case and 2) Art Deco styling. The Ellipse delivers on both, big time!

The team at Maison Boanton took their inspiration for the Ellipse from the first waterproof watch. It all started with an idea: a modern reinterpretation of that very first waterproof watch in history. Complex curves and refined details give it an irresistible charm.

The 40mm cushion shaped case, designed with rounded curves, sits very comfortably on the wrist. The beautiful engraving at the centre of the dial adds to the luxurious feel of the watch.

The milled bezel adds a touch of class and is mirrored on the winding stem. The attention to detail is evident with the red second-hand complimenting the silver dial and black Breguet ‘moon hands’ and roman numerals finished with the red dot at 12 o’clock. The date window at 3 o’clock is subtle and a useful addition to the dial.

The robust Swiss Made La Joux-Perret G100 automatic calibre is entirely manufactured and assembled in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The movement can be viewed through the sapphire and is known for its accuracy, reliability and longevity, with an extended power reserve of 68 hours.

If you are looking for a watch that oozes style and luxury then you won’t go far wrong with the new Ellipse. All this for around £1,600 seems like excellent value.
