Herbelin Have Nothing To Hide With The Skeletonised Newport Carbone Titane

The original Newport Carbone Titane collection was designed by HERBELIN to accompany its brand ambassador Aurélien Ducroz – Double Freeride World Champion and reigning Class40 Champion – on the Route du Rhum 2022.

This flagship of the French brand’s exceptional sports timepieces now features a skeletonised model issued in a limited edition of 500 numbered timepieces.

Just like Aurélien Ducroz’s Class 40 yacht, the 43 mm watch case is both robust and extremely lightweight thanks to the materials used. Carbon is renowned for its exceptional resistance to both shocks and temperature variations. As for titanium, it is known for its feather weight while guaranteeing optimum resistance to impact and corrosion.

Inspired by a production method used in the aeronautical sector, it is crafted from forged carbon paired with a titanium container with DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating. Secured by five screws visible on the carbon bezel, the case is guaranteed water-resistant to a depth of 200m.

Sporting a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment, the circular brushed black flange is punctuated by white luminescent hour markers, each cadenced by groups of four minutes framed with a fine edging. The ultra-precise minute track, which stands out perfectly with its bright yellow colour, matches the tone of the central seconds, which also appears on the printed logo beneath the crystal. Its vibrant hue accentuates the model’s sporty character while focusing attention on the exposed calibre.

The calibre is stripped of all superfluous materials, offering a bird’s eye view of its mechanism. Pared back to the minimum number of components and cogs needed for it to run smoothly, this skeletonisation adopts the stylised shape of a ship’s wheel, an unmistakeable signature of the Newport collection Given a modern, understated look by the anthracite ruthenium coating that improves its visibility, it was specially designed for HERBELIN.

Beating to the rhythm of its faceted anthracite baton-shaped hands with white luminescent coating, the Sellita Swiss made self-winding calibre is also visible through the transparent case-back. Incorporating 26 jewels and oscillating at 28,800 beats per hour, it features a 41-hour power reserve.

Designed to be worn at the heart of the action, it is fitted with a strap that adopts the same Pantone 809C yellow as Aurélien Ducroz’s boat. It is made of high-performance FKM elastomer and features a deployant clasp with securing buckle.

Engraved with the number X/500 on the back of the case, this future collector’s piece will steer the course for modern-day adventurers.
