Mike Horn, Explorer

With a bold and robust build suited for extreme adventures, the 44mm brushed steel case is matched with a blue vertical brushed dial, a recurring colour in previous timepieces in the Mike Horn series, reflecting the shared passion of Horn and Panerai for the sea and unknown territories. The timepiece features a unidirectional rotating steel bezel with a polished blue ceramic disk – ensuring higher resistance to scratches than a metal one, essential for withstanding unintended contact with various objects the bezel is usually exposed to and might cause it damage. The bezel rotates only counterclockwise, allowing for the calculation of immersion time – a crucial feature for a diving instrument.

Its rubberised blue crown prioritises functionality and durability, providing a superior grip, even in wet conditions. The brushed finish of the case contrasts with the polished bezel and applied indices creating a play of lights underscoring Panerai’s Swiss watchmaking expertise. The closed case back is engraved with Mike Horn’s signature.

The dial features large luminescent hour markers and hands for improved visibility in low-light conditions while the big indexes are designed for enhanced readability, especially useful for adventures in challenging environments. These indexes are wider by 20% in diameter with an expanded Super-LumiNova® X1 surface area by 45%, ensuring greater luminescence. A small seconds sub-dial is positioned at 9 o’clock, distinguished by a yellow hand that stands out for easy reading.

At the heart of the PAM01676 is the automatic P.900, a caliber renowned for its reliability with a 3-day power reserve. The P.900 is an automatic caliber that integrates expansive function within the confines of remarkably streamlined proportions. It measures 12½ lignes (28mm) in diameter and is only 4.2 mm thick. The energy necessary to accumulate a power reserve of three days is delivered by a bidirectional oscillating weight and stored in a single barrel. Its balance wheel, oscillating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, is securely fixed in position by a balance cock. The caliber is equipped with a stop-second function that enables precise time setting.

Engineered for quests that go beyond limits like those embodied by Horn, the watch boasts a water resistance up to 30 BAR, approximately 300 meters. This timepiece has been rigorously tested, subjecting it to a pressure 25% greater than the guaranteed water resistance value to ensure it meets Panerai’s stringent standards.

Ensuring versatility and style to accompany in any personal pursuit, the watch comes with two strap options – a first blue rubber strap and a second blue bi-material strap.
