Panerai Radiomir 8 Giorni China Is A Tribute to Tradition and Time

Panerai celebrates the Chinese New Year with the new Radiomir 8 Giorni PAM02088, a limited edition of 300 pieces that reimagines one of the Maison’s most historic designs — the Ref. 3646 with California Dial.

Inspired by the Ref. 3646, one of the most revered watches in Panerai’s archives, the new Radiomir revisits the iconic California dial — instantly recognisable for its asymmetric layout of Roman numerals on the upper half and Arabic numerals below. In this edition, Panerai introduces an elegant twist: Chinese numerals replace the Arabic markers at four key positions, uniting Italian design with cultural artistry.

The dial’s black-to-anthracite gradient finish sets a dramatic stage for blue burnished steel hands, their lustrous tone achieved through precise oxidation at 300°C — a nod to the traditional bluing techniques once used to prevent corrosion. Complemented by beige Super-LumiNova® X1, the watch ensures clarity in darkness with a warm green glow that enhances its vintage character.

“This limited-edition timepiece has been developed together and for our passionate
Chinese Panerai fans community. It is thoughtfully designed to be a cherished collectible,
symbolizing our ongoing commitment to engaging with and celebrating Chinese culture,
and fostering a lasting relationship built on shared appreciation for horological expertise and
cultural heritage.”

Alessandro Ficarelli, Chief Marketing and Product Officer, Panerai

Vintage details abound: a domed sapphire crystal recalls the original Plexiglas of early military Panerai models, while beige Super-LumiNova® X1 ensures perfect legibility with a subtle green glow in the dark.

At its heart lies the P.5000 calibre, a hand-wound mechanical movement with an impressive eight-day power reserve— a defining hallmark of Panerai’s engineering DNA. Visible through the sapphire caseback, the movement’s solid architecture, with twin barrels and a traversing balance bridge, guarantees both robustness and precision. This calibre pays homage to the Angelus SF240 used in Panerai’s historic dive watches, chosen for its endurance and reliability under extreme conditions.

Housed in a 45mm cushion-shaped case crafted from Brunito stainless steel (1.4441 LVM), the Radiomir 8 Giorni China embraces a hand-finished patina. The subtle brushing away of black PVD coating ensures each case is truly unique in texture and tone. Classic wire lugs and a cone-shaped crown, drawn directly from 1930s Panerai military designs, complete its authentic profile. Water-resistant to 100 metres, the PAM02088 is tested to exceed Panerai’s stringent standards.

Available exclusively in China this November, the Radiomir 8 Giorni China will reach Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore in December, and the US, UK, Switzerland, and the Middle East from January.

A rare fusion of Italian heritage and Eastern symbolism — Panerai’s Radiomir 8 Giorni China is a collector’s edition that celebrates time, culture, and craft in perfect harmony.
