After the successful launch of Apiar’s debut watch, the Invenire v1.0, they are now releasing a special edition version of the timepiece, the Invenire ERB.
Born out of a collaboration with professional artist and watch customiser Chris Alexander, AKA @thedialartist, the ERB strays into haute horlogerie territory given the various hand painted elements throughout the watch. ERB stands for Einstein-Rosen Bridge (more commonly known as a ‘wormhole’), a phenomenon theorised by Einstein and powerful enough to bend space and time. While it may not function like it’s namesake, it captures the essence of this fascinating and complex aspect of theoretical physics, but with a playful twist.
The watch takes its inspiration from our obsession with time travel that has captivated our imaginations for millennia, from stories to movies we are fascinated with the notion. At the core of this theory is the wormhole, a theoretical tunnel that connects to distant points in space and time. The Invenire ERB showcases this interstellar adventure with every detail of the watch telling the story of this journey into the unknown.
The dial is where the journey begins, with the hand-painted astronaut figure floating, tethered to the concave, galaxy-inspired centre as they are pulled toward the heart of the wormhole. The lumed tether glows, symbolising their passage deeper into the mysteries of space. Surrounding this, the case’s hollow, latticed internal structure is curved like a scientific diagram of a wormhole, with light bending through its twisting paths. To capture this cosmic energy, slits within the lattice are filled with multi-coloured enamel paint, representing beams of light bending and stretching through the curvature of space-time.
As you flip the watch over, the journey reaches its conclusion. The same astronaut, now changed by their passage through the wormhole, emerges into a new galaxy—transformed by the experience. They are no longer the same as they were at the beginning of the voyage, symbolising growth and discovery. The design of the case-back reflects this transformation, with subtle details representing the newfound clarity and perspective that comes with exploring the unknown.
From the dial to the curved case lattice and colourful enamel accents, the Invenire ERB captures the spirit of timeless exploration, celebrating the endless curiosity of humanity and the wonders of the universe. It’s more than just a timepiece—it’s a visual story of transformation, adventure, and discovery.
Priced at £2,500 ex VAT, the Invenire ERB will be available for public sale throughout November, with only 30 units available. During November, customers will have the opportunity to get hands-on with the ERB at our WatchPro Salon (2nd November) stand and at The Manchester Watch Show (9th November).
