In collaboration with the Austrian Air Force, Hanhart has developed a chronograph uniting heritage with contemporary functionality, tailored for airborne missions.
With its fine details, the dark green dial with the historic Hanhart logo combines the fascinating history of aviation with its modern evolution. An eye-catcher is the depicted propeller, which Leonardo da Vinci once sketched in his manuscripts as the ‘Helix Pteron’. Hanhart has immortalised this symbol of aviation on the lower part of the dial as a sign of progress and innovation. The name ‘Leonardo’ also contains a connection to a leading Italian manufacturer of military helicopters, the AW169M, which today serve in the Austrian Armed Forces. The AW169M is characterised by its performance and versatility, which make it an indispensable tool for day and night missions.
The new AUSTRIAN AIR FORCE AW169M Limited Edition has a diameter of 45 mm. The limited edition is produced as a single-pusher chronograph, also known as a monopusher chronograph. This special version makes it possible to control all chronograph functions – start, stop and zero setting – with just a single pusher, and only in direct succession. In contrast to its two-pusher counterpart, there is no option to restart the chronograph hands after stopping. When the pusher is pressed for the third time, the hands immediately return to their starting position. Hanhart has redesigned the automatic caliber used for this purpose in its own workshops.
The sub-dials for small seconds and the 30-minute counter are positioned on the dial’s periphery as in the past. In addition, the green dial of the new AUSTRIAN AIR FORCE AW169M seamlessly incorporates yet another attention-grabbing element reminiscent of the early precision timepieces of the German watch brand. Inside the watch is the automatic caliber ETA 7750 with a modification from La Joux-Perret is concealed under the screw-down stainless steel case back.
The new Hanhart AUSTRIAN AIR FORCE AW169M Limited Edition is now available for 2,940 Euros including 19% VAT on a leather strap and for 3,140 Euros including 19% VAT on a steel bracelet.
