NixieFab France create entirely handmade clocks using Nixie tubes, following traditional woodworking principles. They work with fine materials-exotic woods, carbon fibre, resin-to ensure aesthetic beauty as well as durability. The creations are either one-of-a-kind or produced in very limited series.

A Nixie tube consists of a series of number-shaped cathodes (usually 0 to 9) arranged one behind the other. Each digit is formed by a cathode filament, surrounded by an anode (grid). When voltage is applied to a pair of cathode-anode electrodes, the gas inside the tube ionizes, creating a visible glow around the cathode.

Nixie tubes offer a unique retro aesthetic with their soft lighting and distinctive appearance. However, due to the complexity of their manufacture and the advent of more modern display technologies, such as liquid crystal displays (LCDs) and light-emitting diodes (LEDs), Nixie tubes have been largely replaced in commercial applications.

But their unique and fascinating beauty allows me to make a superb clock with vintage charm.
