Praesidus is a veteran-driven watch brand that aims to recreate the timepieces worn by WWII heroes.
The original A-11 watch was one of the most iconic US military watches. It is famous for its instrumental role in helping the Allies win the Second World War. Developed almost 80 years ago, it is a remarkable wristwatch that was designed for a specific purpose at a turning point in history.
In the mid-1940s, the A-11 was designed as a navigation timepiece and a tool to survive in the rough conditions of the battlefield. It was initially produced by three American watch manufacturers: Elgin, Waltham, and Bulova. Tens of thousands of watches were produced, but in spite of this, models in very good condition are almost impossible to find because of their age, and because watches during the war were made using cheap, basic plated metal.
The Praesidus A-11 is a remarkable reincarnation of one of the most important timepieces crafted for World War II. Inspired by the now iconic A-11 watch specification developed by the US Army during WW2, the Praesidus A-11 watch is tailor-made to honour the achievements Tom Rice and many men alongside him who fought on the beaches of Normandy.
Featuring a night-black dial with cream filled indexes for quick & easy legibility, you understand why the US Military went for such a design. Equipped with luminous hands & hour markers for perfect visibility in low-light conditions. Powered by an NH35 automatic movement and assembled in OH, USA.
