Vacheron Constantin opens a new chapter for the Overseas self-winding 35 mm model, introducing two high-jewellery versions for the first time, in 18K white gold and in 18K 5N pink gold.
Vacheron Constantin expands the Overseas 35 mm line with its first-ever high-jewellery editions, offered in 18K white gold and 18K 5N pink gold. Powered by the manufacture Calibre 1088/1, these models elevate the compact Overseas into full haute joaillerie territory.
Introduced in 2023, the 35 mm Overseas was designed to suit all wrists, combining slimmer proportions with the unmistakable design codes and everyday versatility of the collection. Comfortable, refined, and unmistakably sporty, it remains a true Overseas at heart.
Gem-setting has been part of Vacheron Constantin’s DNA since the 19th century, and that expertise is on full display here. Each watch is set with an astonishing 1,430 diamonds (~12.58 carats), combining brilliant- and baguette-cut stones.
The bezel’s Maltese cross motif is picked out with 60 invisibly set baguette-cut diamonds (~2.28 carats). Invisible setting is among the most demanding techniques in jewellery, requiring ultra-thin gold rails and micron-level precision so the stones appear to float, with no visible metal.
This refined geometry contrasts with the intense sparkle of brilliant-cut diamonds across the dial and bracelet. The dial alone features 314 snow-set diamonds (~1.65 carats), arranged to appear randomly but placed with extreme precision to maximise light reflection. Twelve baguette-cut diamonds mark the hours.
The lugs and bracelet continue the snow-setting, with 884 brilliant-cut diamonds (~6.95 carats). Each bracelet link is set individually before assembly, underscoring the level of craftsmanship involved.
Versatility remains central to the Overseas identity. The diamond-set gold bracelet can be swapped—tool-free—for either a rubber strap or an alligator leather strap. The white gold version comes with a blue alligator strap, while the pink gold model is paired with a bold fuchsia option. The diamond-set pin buckle (62 diamonds, ~0.33 carats) is also interchangeable.
Comfort is enhanced by the Overseas easy-fit system, including a hidden micro-adjustment in the bracelet inspired by the Maltese cross.
Inside beats the self-winding Calibre 1088/1, offering hours, minutes, central seconds with stop-seconds, and date. The 144-component movement runs at 4 Hz with a 40-hour power reserve and is visible through the sapphire caseback, showcasing Côtes de Genève finishing, bevelled bridges, and a 22K gold rotor engraved with a compass rose.
In short, this is the Overseas 35 mm at its most luxurious—high jewellery execution without sacrificing the collection’s sporty, versatile soul.
