MICROMILSPEC specialises in creating custom mechanical watches that combine design with functionality.
MICROMILSPEC develops custom watches in close collaboration with military units and select organisations, including first responders. Their custom watches are designed to be reliable companions for both daily activities and special situations. Situations where every second counts.
For years, they’ve been operating under the radar, quietly gaining ground without drawing attention. During this time, they have mastered the ‘pincer movement’ or ‘double envelopment’ – a military manoeuvre picked up from a dedicated client. They have adapted this to the world of watchmaking, where it’s been just as effective.
MICROMILSPEC’s first project was to create a custom watch for the Royal Norwegian Air Force’s Search and Rescue Squadron, better known as the 330 Squadron (above). Although Norway isn’t known for a rich history in watchmaking, particularly military watches, the bar was set high. The last military watch issued to the 330 Squadron was manufactured by Heuer in 1972. The 330 custom watches started an exciting journey with crucial lessons learned, forming the foundation of the company today.
They now have completed over 30 custom projects to date with more in development including a unique piece for Premier League hotshot and Norwegian International striker, Erling Haaland (above). Haaland’s personal timepiece is more than forged carbon, titanium, stainless steel, platinum, and a mechanical heart; this is Haaland’s history in the making, presented through a high-end timepiece.
Other standout collections, include the Field Testing Unit, with a minimal dial (below). MICROMILSPEC launched a test programme by distributing 30 timepieces to military personnel within the Norwegian Armed Forces. The goal: to rigorously test the watches in the field and report back on performance and accuracy.
These watches were purposefully designed and stripped of all decorations from the bezel, crown, and caseback. A deliberate choice allowing users to easily trace and document their watch’s lifelines. The unmarked unidirectional bezel, crown, and caseback contribute to the unique look and field of the Field Testing Unit. Executed in a brushed stainless steel case, integrated straps, chamfered crown guard, screw in crown and sapphire crystal.
The quality continues with the display box which has a high gloss exterior, and interior dressed with soft touch material. There are three compartments to hold additional straps, spring bar tool, and the certificate of authenticity.
