A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 Daymatic Shines Bright In Honeygold

A. Lange & Söhne unveils the LANGE 1 DAYMATIC HONEYGOLD, bringing its acclaimed self-winding interpretation of the LANGE 1 to life in the manufacture’s exclusive HONEYGOLD® alloy for the very first time.

Paired with a rich brown 925-silver dial, this 250-piece limited edition exudes a warm, refined presence—one that feels unmistakably Lange yet strikingly fresh.

The choice of launch date is no coincidence as it holds a deep significance for the brand: it marks both Ferdinand Adolph Lange’s founding of Saxon precision watchmaking in 1845, and the bold revival led by his great-grandson Walter Lange in 1990. Now, 35 years later, the maison marks the moment with a new and distinctly celebratory addition to the LANGE 1 family.

Since its debut in 2010, the LANGE 1 DAYMATIC has offered a subtly different perspective on the iconic LANGE 1 design. Its layout—an exact mirror image of the original—shifts the main time display to the right, while the subsidiary seconds and outsize date take their place on the left. The result is both familiar and intriguingly unconventional.

In place of the classic power-reserve indicator, the DAYMATIC introduces a retrograde day-of-week display, arching elegantly along the dial’s left edge. This complication not only enhances daily practicality but reinforces the DAYMATIC’s distinct identity within the LANGE 1 lineage.

With its 39.5 mm diameter and 10.4 mm profile, the DAYMATIC HONEYGOLD wears with the effortless elegance one expects from the collection. Subtle refinements to the bezel and lugs contribute to a sense of lightness, ensuring comfort without compromising sophistication.

The real visual poetry lies in the pairing of honeygold—glowing softly with its characteristic warm tone—and the deep brown dial. The hands, appliqués, and signature outsize date frame all echo this hue, creating a cohesive and luxurious aesthetic. A slightly recessed hour-minute sector adds depth, while the white numerals on a brown date disc maintain a harmonious symmetry.

The watch is matched with a taupe hand-stitched alligator strap, secured by a solid honeygold buckle, completing the ensemble with understated confidence.

Inside the DAYMATIC beats the self-winding calibre L021.1, finished to the uncompromising standards that define Lange’s approach to watchmaking. Its architecture references Glashütte tradition through four meticulously screwed plates that collectively evoke the classic three-quarter plate.

The large central rotor—spanning the full diameter of the movement—delivers efficient winding, combining an 875-gold segment embossed with the A. Lange & Söhne signature and a platinum centrifugal mass. The interplay of warm gold, cool platinum, and cornflower-blue screws renders the rotor not merely functional, but a visual highlight in its own right.

Shock-absorbing spokes protect the winding system, while the calibre offers a 50-hour power reserve once fully wound.

“With its distinctive design, sophisticated manufacture movement and artisanal finissage, the LANGE 1 DAYMATIC HONEYGOLD presents itself as a timepiece with a strong personality for aficionados of self-winding watches. Its exclusive case material and the rare colour combination make it into an elegant classic with a high recognition value.”
