Breitling Celebrates Red Arrows 60th Anniversary With Two Exclusive Timepieces

Breitling continues its longstanding partnership with the legendary aerobatic display team with the limited-edition Breitling Avenger 42 Red Arrows 60th Anniversary Edition, and the Breitling Avenger B01 Chronograph 44 Red Arrows, united by unparalleled precision and performance.

The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows, has set the standard for world-leading aerobatic displays for 60 years, with Breitling’s high-performance timekeeping helping ensure their accuracy and precision under extreme conditions. The watchmaker is marking this landmark occasion with the launch of the limited-edition Breitling Avenger 42 Red Arrows 60th Anniversary Edition (above), limited to 360 pieces worldwide, with a percentage of sales going towards the important work of the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.

Along with the new Breitling Avenger B01 Chrono 44 Red Arrows (above), the two timepieces continue Breitling’s prowess in aviation timekeeping. The Avenger watches are the latest in a line of limited releases that honour a partnership between Breitling and the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team that dates back more than 34 years.  These covetable and collectable timepieces are made even more special by Breitling being the only luxury watch brand granted exclusive permission to feature the Red Arrows’ distinctive emblems.

“As the Red Arrows marks its 60th anniversary display season, we continue to be inspired by the team’s resilience, professionalism and commitment to excellence. Having built a relationship with the team for more than 30 years, we’re pleased to join them in celebrating this momentous occasion in their history, and honoured that their pilots place their trust in Breitling as they undertake the most challenging of displays. We’re delighted to continue the legacy with these new limited editions, and to pay tribute to the incredible members of the Royal Air Force by raising funds for the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.”

The Red Arrows pilots require a watch with precision and exceptional resilience. Launched as a limited edition produced exclusively for the team’s 60th anniversary display season, the Breitling Avenger Auto 42 Red Arrows 60th Anniversary Edition is the ultimate companion for airborne adventure. The watch’s well-balanced design is enriched with stylish details that speak to the partnership. Drawing from the colours of the Red Arrows insignia, the blue-and-black dial features red highlights, including the tip of the seconds hand. Meanwhile, the team’s famous emblematic crest, originally designed in 1980 and featuring the word “éclat” (meaning “brilliance”), takes pride of place at 9 o’clock.

The collaboration continues to the caseback, featuring the markings of the Red Arrows’ 60th anniversary display season and the number of the limited edition. The 42mm-diameter case is made from stainless steel and water-resistant to 300 metres, offering toughness and reliability. It comes with the option of a three-row stainless-steel bracelet, or a blue military leather strap with bold contrasting red stitching. At its heart is the powerful COSC-certified Breitling Caliber 17 automatic movement, delivering up to 38 hours of power reserve.

Limited to 360 pieces worldwide, it recognises the inspiring service of the British armed forces by donating a percentage of sales to the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund. This leading welfare charity plays an incredibly important role, with a proud tradition of supporting past and present members of the Royal Air Force alongside their families and dependents.

The Breitling Avenger B01 Chrono 44 Red Arrows brings top chronograph performance in a contemporary design, designed with readability and ease of use in mind. Here the cool and hardwearing 44mm black ceramic case is paired with titanium hardware, the look completed with a stylish blue military leather strap with contrasting topstitching. Meanwhile, the blue-and-black dial draws the eye with red highlights across the subdials, including the squadron’s logo featuring its iconic “Diamond 9” formation positioned at 9 o’clock.

The new timepiece is as robust as it is refined featuring the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01—an engine boasting approximately 70 hours of power, a five-year warranty, and the distinguished COSC certification, a mark of the highest precision. Turn the watch over to admire the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01 to full effect, displayed through a transparent caseback featuring the inscriptions “Royal Air Force” and “Red Arrows”.
