DONE Watches Unveils Sophisticated Bi-Compax With Nine In Ten Project

DONE Watches marks a defining moment in its evolution with the launch of its latest creation: NINE IN TEN.

As the ninth project since the brand’s founding in 2016—and arriving on the threshold of its ten-year anniversary—this new bi-compax chronograph reflects both a celebration of heritage and a confident step toward the future.

The origins of NINE IN TEN trace back far beyond the present day. For founder Thierry Clottu, the spark was lit at age twenty, when his father gifted him a chronograph that awakened a deep fascination with mechanical watchmaking—its discipline, its poetry, its precision. Nearly a decade and eight models later, Clottu returns to that pivotal memory. The result is a chronograph that distils his accumulated experience, shaped in collaboration with trusted local partners.

A Contemporary Take on a Timeless Form

Housed in a 40mm stainless-steel case, NINE IN TEN channels the elegance of vintage chronographs through elongated lugs, crisp and refined pushers, and dual box-type sapphire crystals—front and back—that enhance the sense of volume and lightness on the wrist. The design maintains a strong identity without ever tipping into excess, striking a poised balance between presence and restraint.

The dial adopts a classic bi-compax configuration, with counters positioned at 3 and 9 o’clock and a date aperture at 6. Built on a sapphire plate, the display reveals multiple layers of the movement beneath. At 6 o’clock, a skeletonised ruthenium-tinted date disc encircles a BGW9 Superluminova® marker that cleanly highlights the current date. A gently curved black flange, echoing the arc of the crystal, frames the overall composition. The result is superb legibility paired with a measured reveal of mechanical depth—a signature DONE aesthetic.

The Heart of the Machine

Driving the NINE IN TEN is the L111 calibre from La Joux-Perret, the La Chaux-de-Fonds manufacture renowned for its technical reliability and refined architecture. The movement offers a 60-hour power reserve and a column-wheel chronograph construction, chosen for both its performance and tactile precision.

In close partnership with La Joux-Perret, DONE has developed a semi-skeletonised variant of the movement, exposing more of the mechanism and calendar works while maintaining visual harmony. Anthracite–ruthenium finishing, the openworked date disc, and a DONE-signed oscillating weight underscore the model’s contemporary mechanical identity—purposeful, modern, and free from decorative excess.

True to the brand’s ethos, NINE IN TEN has been realised through a tightly knit network of local specialists. This is watchmaking executed on a human scale, far removed from industrialised production cycles. As with previous releases, the model will be funded through a pre-order campaign, enabling controlled manufacturing while inviting the DONE community to take part in the project’s journey.

Early supporters benefit from a preferential price ahead of the final retail price of CHF 4,990 (incl. VAT). Initial deliveries are expected mid-April 2026.

A Decade Distilled Into a Single Chronograph

More than a new reference, NINE IN TEN embodies ten years of learning, collaboration, and quiet determination. It is a return to the original spark—emotion, curiosity, and the wish to reveal mechanics with clarity and honesty.

For collectors who follow the independent scene closely—and for anyone with a particular affection for mechanical chronographs—DONE Watches’ NINE IN TEN is a release that merits serious attention.
