Fears Watch Company expands its core Brunswick 40mm range with two new dial colours in an uprated case design.
The new Fears Brunswick ‘Aurora’ features a large blue mother of pearl dial (above right) that captures the colours of the natural phenomenon of the aurora borealis. In addition to this, also joining the Brunswick 40mm range is the popular Copper Salmon colour (above left). Both watches include an uprated version of the 40mm Brunswick case and for the first time, are available on a leather strap or Fears’ 5-link stainless steel bracelet.
The non-limited Fears Brunswick ‘Aurora’ (above) features the first mother of pearl dial to appear on a Fears watch in its 177-year history. The dial is made from two sections of natural mother of pearl that are cut to different heights. Each piece is then hand tinted to achieve a special and unique shade of blue that highlights the natural iridescence of the material. This striking base is then complemented by milled, hand-applied numeral indices in the Fears bespoke ‘Edwin’ typeset, with each numeral diamond polished and coated in precious Rhodium.
The new Brunswick 40 Copper Salmon (above), features the same tone of ‘salmon’ – first seen in September 2020 in a 38mm version – but with a new impression through different dial finishing. The dial features a raised section with hand-brushing in a vertical direction whereas the lower section features a fine sandblast, that gently sparkles when the light catches it. It differs from its smaller sibling with diamond polished applied numerals and bevelled hands both coated in black gold that gives the watch a more contemporary feel.
“Following the successful introduction of our sportier, automatic Brunswick 40mm range in late 2022 I was keen to see the collection grow. The Brunswick ‘Aurora’ is a watch I’ve wanted to create for a long time, having been a big admirer of the beauty of mother of pearl ever since my parents gifted me a pair of silver cufflinks, intricately set with the material when I was 16 years old. Since then, I’ve always enjoyed the way this delicate material changes in the light and were compelled to show off its versatility in our sportier watch model by capturing the sensation of experiencing the northern lights. The Copper Salmon colour we developed during 2020 has gained so many admirers I was intent to see how it would work on the larger dial area of the 40mm Brunswick. The two levels of the larger dial allowed us to experiment with different finishes to find a combination that best worked with the metallic tones of the copper and 18ct Red Gold coatings.”

These two new dial colours are both housed in an uprated version of the Brunswick 40mm case that features improved water resistance of 150 metres (15 ATM). This is thanks to an adjusted case architecture and the inclusion of a bespoke, screw down crown featuring the Fears cypher deeply engraved in its tip. The case has no flat surfaces and is finished to the same exacting standard of a precious metal case with a combination of polished and brushed finishes.
They also debut new leather strap options that are available across the rest of Brunswick 40 range for the first time. The Brunswick ‘Aurora’ is offered on an Aegean blue nubuck buffalo strap, with a luxurious suede texture, while the Brunswick 40 Copper Salmon can be specified with a premium Raven Black buffalo leather strap. These new straps (as with all Fears straps) are hand-made in Belgium by a family run atelier and feature quick release spring bars that allow for easy removal from the watch head with no tools required.
