Jaeger-LeCoultre Create A Modern Icon for the Nomadic Collector
There are objects that simply tell the time, and then there are those that define it. With the Memovox Travel Clock, Jaeger LeCoultre enters the latter category once again, unveiling a piece that speaks directly to the contemporary traveller, refined, purposeful, and unmistakably modern.

Born from its enduring collaboration with Marc Newson, this latest creation distils the Maison’s long standing relationship with travel into a compact, sculptural form. Sized to sit effortlessly in the palm, yet commanding in presence, the clock unites a featherlight titanium case with the rich tactility of Schedoni leather, an interplay of materials that feels as considered as it is luxurious.
Its debut at The Perpetual Timekeeper exhibition during Milan Design Week underscores its design credentials, this is not merely a timekeeping instrument, but a statement of intent.
A Legacy In Motion
Jaeger LeCoultre’s history has always been intertwined with movement, across time zones, continents, and decades. From Dual Time wristwatches to World Time complications and early travel clocks, the Manufacture has consistently addressed the needs of those in transit.

At the heart of this lineage lies the Memovox. Introduced in 1950, its purpose was elegantly simple, to remind, alert, and awaken. Its distinctive alarm, resonant and unmistakable, quickly became a signature. Naturally, the complication evolved beyond the wrist, finding new expression in desk and travel clocks throughout the mid century era.
Newson’s Vision
Marc Newson’s approach is never decorative, it is deliberate. Since first engaging with Jaeger LeCoultre in 2008, his reinterpretations of the Atmos clock have demonstrated a rare sensitivity, evolving an icon without diluting its essence.

Here, he applies that same philosophy to the Memovox. The result is an object that feels inevitable, clean, circular, and intuitively resolved. His use of materials, combined with a deep respect for analogue permanence, reinforces a broader vision, design that endures.
Engineering the Experience
Inside, the story is equally compelling. The newly developed Calibre 256 is a manually wound movement offering an impressive 12 day power reserve, an essential consideration for life on the move.
Three barrels underpin its architecture, two dedicated to timekeeping, ensuring longevity, and a third reserved exclusively for the alarm. The Memovox complication remains central, its familiar triangular indicator gliding across a rotating disc, an echo of its mid century origins.

The dial itself is where innovation becomes artistry. Concentric circles define the layout, punctuated by a patented power reserve display. Twelve discreet apertures track the remaining energy, fully wound, they glow in orange, as days pass, they transition to blue in an anti clockwise sequence. It’s intuitive, legible, and quietly ingenious.
Form, Refined
At 69mm in diameter and just 18mm thick, the case achieves a delicate balance, substantial yet restrained. Its spherical profile is uninterrupted, save for a cleverly integrated folding stand, allowing it to sit comfortably on any surface.
The winding mechanism is equally considered. Hidden beneath the bezel, a peripheral crown governs winding, time setting, and alarm adjustment via a discreet selector. Nothing extraneous, nothing overlooked. SuperLuminova accents ensure visibility in low light, while the bold orange and blue palette lends a contemporary edge, one that feels both technical and playful.
A Complete Travel Companion
This is not simply a clock, it is an entire ecosystem designed for the collector on the move.
Limited to just 100 pieces per year, each Memovox Travel Clock is accompanied by a bespoke travel ensemble crafted by Schedoni. The Italian leather specialist, famed for its work with classic sports cars, brings its expertise to a suite of accessories, a fitted pouch, a multi watch travel case, and a selection of finely executed tools, including a loupe and strap instrument.

Even at rest, the clock is considered. A dedicated display stand ensures it transitions seamlessly from travel companion to desk object. The Memovox Travel Clock is not about excess, it is about clarity of purpose. Every line, every function, every material serves a role.
In an era defined by digital convenience, it offers something different, a tactile, mechanical connection to time itself. For those who move frequently, and appreciate the value of considered design, it is more than a companion, it is a quiet constant.
