Mr Jones Launches Limited Edition Steampunk Watch

One of Mr Jones Watches‘ most popular new designs has been given a steely steampunk makeover.

Monster Melter 1904, designed by British artist and character maker, Onorio D’Epiro, will only be available to buy for 12 hours on Friday 27th February (8am – 8pm GMT).

This limited edition watch swaps the original design’s fluorescent tentacled monster with a chrome creepy crawly. The same epic battle between man and beast, but in a different century with a whole different monster.

The webbed background sets the stage for an adventurer trapped in an endless battle with a multi-eyed, fanged spider. Featuring metallic copper elements, this creepy watch will transport its wearer into a world full of brass, gears and creeping dread.

“When I originally designed Monster Melter 3000, I didn’t have any future plans for the design. However, I was on a phone call and was doodling other monster characters that the little space guy could be fighting. I accidentally got carried away and had drawn up three new watch ideas, all based around the same layout of the original Monster Melter. That’s when I thought, ‘wouldn’t it be great if these two characters come from a timeline’. The guy is from a lineage of monster hunters, and the monster has evolved over the centuries.”

To read the time, look for the position of the adventurer, who marks the minutes. The spider’s red, severed claw points to the hour.

About The Designer

Onorio D’Epiro is a designer and illustrator from Bedfordshire, England. As a child he developed a fascination for character design and special effects and mastered the video recorder at a precocious age in order to feed his passion for film.

He studied Model Design and Special Effects at the University of Hertfordshire and after graduating was drawn to the world of designer art toys. He began by creating one-off bespoke pieces and later developed a series of robot collectables known as “Justrobots”, which gained a dedicated following around the world.

His work has been exhibited widely including at The Pictoplasma Portrait Gallery in Berlin, The Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the MARCO Museo de Arte, Contemporano in Mexico City.
