Split Watches Created As Symbols Of Connection

Split Watches Created As Symbols Of Connection

Split Watches have been launched with a mission to promote mental health awareness.

Founder, Ed Margulies, is a third-generation watchmaker, and has worked for decades in the watch industry. He explains that Split is the result of a deeply personal journey, and the desire to positively disrupt the heritage-driven luxury watch world, stating that it’s a modern day watch for the modern day world.

After years in the luxury watch industry – and after facing his own resurfaced trauma – Ed took a leap to redefine what a watch could stand for. Ed wanted to create something bold that could live on a wrist but speak to the heart. Split is about vulnerability as strength – and the courage to wear it.

“Let’s find time to talk; who knows where it can take us.”

Split aims to turn timepieces into symbols of connection, raising awareness around meaningful stories to share that weigh us down. Split sees the need for a watch that can spark deeper conversations, one that challenges tradition and encourages empathy, connection and self-expression.

Split was inspired by Ed’s impressively curated collection of split second chronographs dating from the 1950’s – 2025 (below). He feels that although we’ve never been better connected, with social media and cell phones that somehow we’ve managed to become disconnected and split from others as well as ourselves.

The debut collection features Ceramod + fused ceramic, an FKM rubber strap, and a Seiko-family bi-compax automatic chronograph, encased in a modern, purpose driven design. The straps can be personalised with hand-written calligraphy on request.

Unofficial Brand Ambassador, DJ/Film Producer Don Letts (above centre) reminds us that openness is strength. Split will be partnering with The Anna Freud Centre and will donate one hour’s therapy for each watch sold.

“We’re proud to stand alongside voices that make space for real conversation.”

Visually, the watches break tradition – marketed with hands set at 7.23 to symbolise a ‘Braveface’, unlike the conventional 10.10 ‘Happy-Time’ setting. Each series will be made in a Limited Edition of 250 pieces.  RRP: £1,800.
