Next in our series of ‘MrWatchMaster Meets’ is Emmanuel Gueit, watch designer, who is perhaps most well known for his design of the iconic Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak Offshore. Emmanuel is the and founder of EG Studio that houses his portfolio of designs, which vary from plastic to platinum. He designs for watch or jewellery brands that require new concepts of product or restyling of existing designs – using existing DNA and modernity.
We met with Emmanuel when he was in London and are delighted to bring you some fascinating insights into a master of design.
MWM: How is business?
EG: In all honesty, it has been two difficult years, but now it is booming again and my days aren’t long enough, which is a good thing.

MWM: What are you currently working on?
EG: I’m helping ‘young kids’ launching new brands on Kickstarter and other crowd funding platforms which is great fun. I’m also Working on a number of big projects which involve the launch of that keep me really busy. In the future we are planning to create a new foundation dedicated to Watch and Jewellery design which is all very exciting.
MWM: Tell us something we don’t know about EG Studio?
EG: There is a distinct possibility that we will be opening a studio in London.
MWM: Which watch do you wear?
EG: A Patek Philippe Nautilus 3800, that belonged to my beloved Father.
I have just put my Royal Oak Offshore 25721 that I’ve worn for 25-years into auction at Philips taking place next November.
MWM: Which watch would you like to own?
EG: The Rolex Cellini Moonphase that I’ve designed.
MWM: What do you like best about the Watch business?
EG: It is very simple – for it is all about the product!
MWM: What don’t you like about the Watch business?
EG: Oh! Many many things…people who think they can do my job, because wearing a Hermes tie they believe they have good taste! Design is a real job – compare an Apple Watch(!) with a Patek or a Rolex – what is comparable!
MWM: What is next on the horizon for you?
EG: Again it is simple and focused for me – Design, Design, Design.
