A. Lange & Söhne Shines Bright With LANGE 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar ‘Lumen’
At A. Lange & Söhne, innovation and tradition exist in perfect harmony — and nowhere is this more evident than in the new LANGE 1 TOURBILLON PERPETUAL CALENDAR ‘Lumen’.

This exceptional timepiece brings together two of horology’s most revered complications, a tourbillon with stop-seconds and a perpetual calendar, within the unmistakable architecture of the iconic LANGE 1. The result is a watch that is as technically impressive as it is visually captivating, both in daylight and in darkness.
A Signature Design, Reimagined
The LANGE 1’s distinctive off-centre dial layout remains instantly recognisable, yet it evolves here with remarkable sophistication. The displays are arranged in a harmonious triangular configuration, connecting the outsize date, retrograde day display, subsidiary seconds and moon-phase indicator.
A peripheral month ring replaces traditional layouts, while the leap-year indication is discreetly positioned at 6 o’clock. Every calendar function switches instantaneously, ensuring absolute clarity and precision at all times, a hallmark of Lange’s uncompromising approach.

Illuminating Innovation
What sets the ‘Lumen’ apart is its extraordinary use of light. Thanks to a semi-transparent dial, UV light penetrates the surface to charge the luminous elements beneath, allowing every indication to glow in low-light conditions.
The result is striking: a watch that transforms after dark. The luminous outsize date becomes a focal point, while the moon-phase display, featuring an integrated day/night indicator, offers a poetic interpretation of the celestial cycle, accurate to within a single day over 122.6 years.
This interplay of transparency and luminescence creates a layered, almost architectural dial, one that is both functional and mesmerising.

A Masterclass in Finishing
Turn the watch over, and the artistry continues. Through the sapphire caseback, the newly developed calibre L225.1 reveals itself in all its complexity.
Comprising 685 components, the movement showcases the very best of traditional Saxon watchmaking: hand-engraved elements, black-polished steel parts, and a rich tapestry of decorative finishes including perlage, solarisation and circular graining.
The tourbillon, visible only from the reverse, rotates once per minute, counteracting the effects of gravity to enhance precision. Thanks to Lange’s patented stop-seconds mechanism, it can even be set with exacting one-second accuracy.

Mechanical Excellence
This self-winding calibre is as technically impressive as it is beautiful. A central rotor in 18-carat white gold, paired with a platinum centrifugal mass, ensures efficient winding and delivers a power reserve of up to 50 hours.
Every detail has been considered from the diamond endstone set in a gold chaton at the heart of the tourbillon, to the hand-engraved stars adorning the movement bridges.

Exclusivity in Platinum
Housed in a 41.9mm platinum case and paired with a black alligator leather strap, the LANGE 1 TOURBILLON PERPETUAL CALENDAR ‘Lumen’ exudes understated luxury.
Limited to just 50 pieces worldwide, this extraordinary watch was unveiled at Watches and Wonders 2026, reinforcing its status as one of the most significant releases of the year.
Few watches manage to balance complexity, innovation and aesthetic clarity quite like this. The LANGE 1 TOURBILLON PERPETUAL CALENDAR ‘Lumen’ is not simply a showcase of technical mastery, it is a compelling expression of modern haute horlogerie.
For collectors, it represents something truly special: a rare fusion of engineering brilliance and luminous beauty.
