Alexander Shorokhoff Kandy Avantgarde Blue Is A Statement Of Intent

The new Kandy Avantgarde Blue from Alexander Shorokhoff embraces individuality, artistic provocation and unapologetic visual theatre in a way only this independent German manufacture seems capable of achieving.

Unveiled earlier this year at the prestigious Inhorgenta Munich 2026, the new Kandy Avantgarde Blue continues the bold artistic language that has become synonymous with the independent German manufacture. Limited to just 50 pieces worldwide, this latest edition is anything but restrained and that is precisely the point.

At first glance, the dial delivers a riot of geometry, colour and asymmetry, executed with a confidence few brands would dare attempt. Framed by a striking blue-and-white striped motif, vivid blue accents dominate the composition, while mother-of-pearl details introduce texture and depth beneath the avant-garde arrangement. The matching blue hour and minute hands, paired with a blued central seconds hand, complete a display that feels more contemporary art piece than traditional watchmaking exercise.

Naturally, the distinctive square case refuses to play a supporting role. Measuring 41mm × 41mm and crafted from stainless steel, the case incorporates recessed side channels filled with blue wire inserts — an unmistakably theatrical flourish that reinforces the watch’s artistic identity. Around the back, colourful glass inserts continue the visual narrative with characteristic Shorokhoff eccentricity.

Inside beats either the ETA 2892 automatic calibre or the Sellita SW300, both selected for their slim profile and proven reliability. As one would expect from the brand, the movement receives extensive finishing, including a hand-engraved rotor and blued screws, details that elevate the watch beyond simple mechanical competence.

The Kandy Avantgarde Blue arrives with two entirely different personalities. The first is a sporty light-blue fabric-covered rubber strap that gives the watch a contemporary, casual energy. The second, a rich blue horse leather strap, transforms the piece into something notably more refined and artistic in character.

Like much of Alexander Shorokhoff’s work, the Kandy Avantgarde Blue is not designed to blend quietly into a collection. It is expressive, unconventional and unapologetically individual, a wearable tribute to the spirit of avant-garde art and, fittingly, to Wassily Kandinsky himself.
