Panerai Sets Course For 38th America’s Cup With Two New Luminor Luna Rossa Models
As anticipation builds for the 38th America’s Cup, due to take place in Naples in 2027, Panerai has unveiled two new additions to its Luna Rossa collection.

Continuing its long-standing partnership with the Italian sailing team, the new Luminor Luna Rossa Chrono PAM01768 and Luminor Luna Rossa GMT PAM01791 celebrate a collaboration rooted in precision engineering, performance and a shared passion for the sea.
Since joining forces with Luna Rossa in 2019, Panerai has used the partnership as a proving ground for developing watches designed to perform in demanding real-world conditions. The latest models continue that philosophy, with one focused on race timing and the other on practical travel functionality.
Luminor Luna Rossa Chrono PAM01768
Limited to just 500 pieces, the new 44mm Luminor Luna Rossa Chrono brings a dedicated chronograph to the collection, combining Panerai’s unmistakable design language with details inspired by competitive sailing.

Housed in a brushed steel case with a polished bezel, the watch is powered by the automatic P.9210 calibre. The movement delivers a 42-hour power reserve while driving the hours, minutes, small seconds and chronograph functions with the robust reliability expected from the Florentine marque.
Designed with sailing in mind, the watch incorporates a tachymeter scale positioned on the rehaut, enabling wearers to calculate average speed over a measured distance. It’s a practical complication that reflects the split-second decisions and precise timing demanded in America’s Cup racing.

The silver sun-brushed dial provides excellent contrast, with white Super-LumiNova® X2 ensuring exceptional legibility. Grey chronograph counters, subtle azurage finishing and distinctive red accents reinforce the Luna Rossa identity without overwhelming the clean aesthetic.
Another first for the Luna Rossa collection is the introduction of a technical Velcro strap featuring an elastic construction for quick adjustment on the wrist. A black rubber strap is also supplied, giving owners the flexibility to tailor the watch for everyday wear or time on the water.
Water-resistant to 100 metres, each piece undergoes Panerai’s enhanced pressure testing, exceeding its stated water-resistance rating by 25%.
Luminor Luna Rossa GMT PAM01791
Joining the collection is the more compact 40mm Luminor Luna Rossa GMT, a model designed to bridge sporting capability with everyday versatility.

Powered by the automatic P.900/GMT calibre, the watch offers an impressive three-day power reserve while incorporating a practical GMT complication for tracking a second time zone. Visible through the sapphire caseback, the movement also features a stop-seconds function for precise time setting.
The silver sun-brushed dial mirrors the aesthetic of its larger sibling, with white Super-LumiNova® X2, a red small seconds hand and refined azurage detailing adding depth and character. The GMT hand takes its inspiration from the distinctive sail profile of the Luna Rossa yacht, adding a subtle design flourish with genuine thematic relevance.

Perhaps the biggest talking point is the introduction of Panerai’s tapering steel bracelet to the Luna Rossa collection. Equipped with the brand’s PAM Click™ quick-release system, it allows effortless strap changes without the need for tools, making the watch equally at home in the office, on the dock or aboard a yacht.
Like the Chrono, the GMT offers 100 metres of water resistance and benefits from Panerai’s stringent in-house testing protocols.
Performance Inspired
While the two watches serve different purposes, both demonstrate how Panerai continues to draw inspiration from elite sailing. One focuses on elapsed timing during competition, while the other caters to travellers and those operating across multiple time zones.

As the countdown to Naples 2027 gathers pace, these latest Luna Rossa editions reinforce Panerai’s commitment to creating functional sports watches that remain true to the brand’s maritime heritage while embracing contemporary innovation.
