Timeless Watches Expands HMS Collection With 002 ARA Model

Independent Swiss brand Timeless continues to refine its distinctive design language with the launch of the HMS 002 ARA, a limited-edition creation that further explores the architectural and industrial aesthetic that has become the company’s signature.

Designed in Switzerland and powered by a Swiss-made automatic movement, the new HMS 002 ARA builds upon the foundations established by the original HMS collection while introducing a striking new visual identity centred around an intricately finished dial and a newly developed Milanese-style mesh bracelet.

At first glance, the watch is unmistakably Timeless. The multi-part case architecture, exposed design elements and strong geometric forms remain intact, preserving the recognisable silhouette created by founder and designer Maël Oberkampf. Measuring 41.5mm in diameter and 12.8mm thick, the stainless-steel case combines circular satin finishing, fine sandblasting and polished accents to create a sophisticated interplay of textures. A domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment enhances the watch’s sculptural profile while maintaining excellent legibility.

However, it is the dial where the HMS 002 ARA truly distinguishes itself. A slim bezel maximises the visual opening, allowing the dial’s intricate construction to take centre stage. The outer chapter ring features a clean railroad-style minute track, while stylised numerals inspired by contemporary interpretations of Arabic typography contribute a unique graphic character. At the centre sits Timeless’ signature guilloché-patterned decorative hour wheel, creating remarkable depth and constantly shifting reflections as light moves across the surface.

The result is a display that feels both vintage and futuristic, an aesthetic contradiction that Timeless has successfully embraced since its inception. The brand itself describes its philosophy as viewing ‘the future seen from the past, and the past seen from the future’, a concept that is evident throughout the HMS collection.

Powering the watch is the Swiss-made STP 1-11 automatic calibre, offering a 44-hour power reserve and displaying hours, minutes, seconds and a discreet date indication. The movement sits behind an engraved and numbered caseback, reinforcing the exclusivity of the piece.

One of the most significant developments for the HMS 002 ARA is the introduction of a bespoke metallic mesh bracelet. Rather than opting for a conventional steel bracelet, Timeless has chosen a finely woven Milanese-style construction that conforms closely to the wrist and complements the watch’s retro-industrial personality. According to early hands-on impressions, the bracelet integrates naturally with the overall design and enhances wearability considerably.

Limited to just 40 numbered examples worldwide, the HMS 002 ARA remains faithful to the exclusivity that collectors have come to expect from the Lausanne-based independent brand. Community reaction within enthusiast circles has been notably positive, with many praising the originality of the dial architecture, the finishing quality and the distinctive character that sets the watch apart from the increasingly crowded microbrand landscape.

In an era where many new releases look familiar, the HMS 002 ARA succeeds by pursuing its own path. It is not a tribute, a vintage recreation or a derivative sports watch. Instead, it is a confident expression of Timeless’ design vision, one that continues to evolve while remaining instantly recognisable.
